Pavilion Society Charitable Foundation
Pavilion Society Charitable Foundation, Inc, was established in 2012 to grant scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Roane County, Tennessee. Through these scholarships we honor the legacy of Ellis family educators who helped scores of children through their primary and secondary years of education. Applications for post-secondary education scholarships can be downloaded from this website. You can also download an application from your school website, or you can contact your school’s guidance counselor.
The Pavilion Society is supported by individual donations and by donations from founding members. Usage fees from the Ellis-Scott Pavilion in Kingston, TN are also donated to the Pavilion Society scholarship program. All donations are applied toward scholarships and other endeavors within the scope of our Mission.
Pavilion Society Scholarship Awards
Pavilion Society Scholarships honor sisters, Evalynn Ellis Hobgood and Alma Lee Ellis Scott. They were lifetime residents of Roane County who positively influenced generations of Roane County’s children. Evalynn was a pioneer in education, as a teacher and principal. Alma Lee was a teacher, business woman, and counselor. Their sisters Barbara Jean Ellis Terrell and Flosetta Ellis Ervin Gibson also became educators outside of the East Tennessee region. All four Ellis sisters affected hundreds of children over the many years they devoted to education. We are all thankful for their dedication.
Our Mission
PAVILION SOCIETY CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, INC. was organized to make grants and/or scholarships for charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes. The Founders, whose lives were shaped by the Roane County region, created the Foundation as an expression of their appreciation to the community. Since 2012, the Foundation has granted numerous scholarships to qualifying seniors from schools in Roane County, Tennessee. As the Foundation has matured we have expanded our goals to include students outside of Roane County. Our goal is to complement the objectives of public schools in the state of Tennessee.
